Religious Life of the School
The Year 3s took part in their First Holy Communion preparation Mass on Sunday, 29th January in our local Parish church. The children were prayerful and attentive during Mass. Please pray for them as they continue their sacramental journey.

Gospel: Jesus calls the first disciples (Matthew 5:17-37)
Using the Wednesday Word link below, read this Sunday’s Gospel
and reflect on the questions below with your family.
You will have an opportunity to discuss them again next week in School.
- What did Jesus say he had come to do?
- What was it important for Jesus to get this message across?
- What will happen if you break one of the laws?
- What will happen if you keep them?

World Book Day
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday, 3rd March with a week-long focus on books and reading.
Each year, people of all ages embrace World Book Day and dress in costumes from a book that has recently stirred their imagination, literature that they read years ago or favourite characters that have a fond place in their hearts.
As usual, at St Charles we will be inviting children and staff to dress up as their favourite character.
If you know any author who could come to speak to the children, or if you could spare some time to read with a group of children, please contact Mrs Desmond.
Parents' Evening
Thank you to the vast majority of parents who attended parents’ evening this week.
It is really important to talk with your child’s class teacher about his/her progress. Children achieve best when they see school and home working together. If you did not manage to come, please make an appointment after half term.
Safer Internet Day
At St Charles we celebrated Safer Internet day on Tuesday this week, February 7th.
The theme was:
‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online,’
Safer Internet day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
Well done Year 6!

Solving Maths Problems
Our Year 3 pupils are really enjoying Maths, as they use their knowledge of multiples and factors to solve division problems involving Robin Hood! We were trying to share the coins he had equally.
Author Visit
Our KS2 pupils had a very special visitor yesterday...Georgia Byng, the author of the Molly Moon series.
Our pupils were excited to be introduced to her brand new book, Albi, the Glowing Cow Boy!
Georgia gave us signed copies of her book for our school library; Thank you!
Victorian Architecture
Our 5/6G pupils have enjoyed studying Victorian architecture. They learned about the difference between neoclassical & gothic architecture. Click on the picture to look at their wonderful line drawings of famous buildings from the Victorian age!
Can you recognise them?

Maths and Numbers
Our year 1 pupils have been working really hard to understand and learn the order of numbers, and we made a human number line in class, which was really fun! We worked together to sort the numbers and find any that were missing.

States Of Matter
Our Year 4 pupils have been enjoying learning about changing states of matter in science with Ms. Farmer.
They made ice cream in class to show how a liquid changes to a solid when it is cooled and melted plain, milk, and white chocolate to see which one melted the quickest, which they weren't allowed to eat, but it was still fun to make!
